Shimokitazawa THREE Guide: A Basement Live House and Club

What it's like

THREE sits in a basement and holds around 170 people, so popular shows get crowded and you're never far from the stage. Listings describe a mix of young indie rock, soul, garage and punk bands, plus touring artists and DJ parties. Some nights are club events rather than live shows.

That means it pays to read the listing carefully. A show on our site tells you the Open and Start times, and the official calendar shows everything else going on, including late-night events.

How to get there

THREE is a longer walk than most Shimokitazawa venues. The venue's official directions:

  1. Leave through the South Exit of Shimokitazawa Station.
  2. Walk through the South Exit shopping street and continue straight along Chazawa-dori.
  3. Pass the Daizawa three-way junction (代沢三叉路) and keep heading toward Sangenjaya.
  4. Look on the right for a pink sign with the character 酒 (sake). The venue is in the basement of that building.

Allow extra time the first time, and have your map app ready by searching "Shimokitazawa THREE".

One building, two venues

THREE and BASEMENT BAR are on the same floor of the same building. Both run live shows, sometimes on the same night. Before you head down, check which venue your ticket is for. You can read more on our BASEMENT BAR page.

Tickets and reservations

The venue's website has a reservation form. It asks for your name in katakana, your email address, the date, the event name and the number of tickets. If you're not sure how to write your name in katakana, reserving through the band's or promoter's own link, or the e+ page for the show, may be easier. Each show page on this site links to the official ticket or reservation page when one is available.
